Subject: transmission 95 dakota IP: Logged
Message: alright i got a 95 dakota 4x4 with the 318. the transmission is about to go and i have replaced one before, but the question i have is since the truck is an automatic is it possible to convert it over to standard. if so how difficult would that be and would it end up effecting the performance of the truck. thanks

Message: Most of the time, an automatic-equipped engine isn't ready for a stick. Mopar was better about drilling the cranks on the Magnum engines, but even when they did, it's a rough finish, meaning, while the crank may have been rough drilled, it's not quite ready to accept a pilot bushing that you will need when using the stick. So, you'll need to do that.
