Hi, A couple of months ago my auto trans. acted stupid one day in my 2000 dakota. It set off a code to the computer that said overdrive band failed to turn off. But is was only one time and trans has been fine for months. I cant turn this stupid light off now. Auto zone was the one who gave me the code and told me what it was but they told me they were not allowed to turn off the light. My older dakotas you could always reset computers simple. Can anyone give me a tip to turn light off or reset it when it gives a trans code? Thanks.

Did you try resetting the computer by removing
the negative (-) side of the battery, putting
and holding the key in the start mode for 10
seconds or so?

Might try that if you have not...

Good luck...

check all wires leading to all sensors. i had 2 that were frayed and touching. fixed them, electrical tape worked good or if they have more than 100,000 on them maybe replace them.

I bought a new code reader 3 months ago. So far I have not got to use it but it has the capability of turning the codes off. I have no idea how your truck works. Min is A 99. You may need a code reader to turn yours off.

So many problems .... So little time

i've got a 2000 QC. you might try this. with the key off disconnect the plug on the pcm nearest the firewall for about a minute or 2. plug it back in and see if that works.
