Message: Hi, In a 2000 dakota, dont it have a check engine light and a maintanence light? And the maintanence light comes on at a certain mileage? How do you turn the maintanence light off?? Battery disconnect wont do it? Will it go off after a certain amount of miles have passed like it turned on? Thanks.

Message: My 90 Dakota had a Maintanence Required and
Check Engine light. The Maintanence Required
light came on at 70k if I remember. Disconnecting
the battery would not clear it either. The
stealership wanted 50 bux to "reset" the light.
I found a honest repair shop that did it for
nothing.
My Father In Law had a Dodge Colt with a
maintanence required light. There was a little
button hidden behind the gauges to press and that
would reset the system for another X amount of
miles.

Message: Do you mean the "Check Engine" light? Mine came on in my 2001 Durango at 92,000 miles and so I took it to the dealer. Was a torgue converter code. Aamco Transmissions verified the code. Don't ignore light, especially if it starts blinking - which means severe damage will occur if you keep driving.
