Message: Hum...Must be somethin that happens to Gen II, Green, RC, Short bed V-8's.
Mine does the exact same thing on the slightest bit of ice or snow. I add about 300 pounds to the bed and then my front wheels always lock up when I try to stop. So its either not stopping or not going. I try to stay in the middle by adding about 200 pounds.

Message: First, get rid of those crappy tires and get a set that will work. The #1 reason for poor tracxtion, is poor tires. No matter what the vehicle or the surface. That's why rally drivers spend so much time selecting the exactly correct tires.
Second, put some weight in the back. Usually about 300# over or behind the rear axle is about right. Give or take. The best choice would be one of those water bladders. But they can be expensive, and get in the way when you try to use the bed.

Message: thats what my 95 ranger did in the snow and ice. you might want to look in to snow tires. and putting wieght in the back. I never tired snow tires on my ranger as it dont snow much where i live. but if you live where it snows alot I would look in to snow tires. or you could just call in when it snows lol

Message: Yep mine will do the exact same thing. The key is not to stop moving on ice or to spin your tires in the first place. I'm glad I have 4x4
I have a 99 3.9

Message: I have a 97 kota sport 318 2wd. Same goes for me. At Idle in Drive, they spin!! My tires are more street performance than anything! P275/60r15 in the rear and 255's up front! Any snow and they do nothing but spin!!! I only put 180lbs in my box. Love the Minnesota winter!!

Message: Jeff: that white stuff is legal in 50 states... I swear
Brett: Yes I have the same size tires. Mine are for street performance too. When the weather gets below 50 the rubber gets much harder and they spin much more. Under thirty and on snow... what you saw in the video happens.

Message: Yeah I know I should get better tires for the winter, but I like the challenge of driving with the rear being loose!
Mark: What brand of tire do you have? I am looking for new rubber for the summer, and the guy I bought the truck from had some cheap Dayton Daytonas on it. Want to upgrade!!!!!

Message: Check my profile. I have Kumho's on there. They are great on warm dry pavement. I dont drive the dakota in the snow anymore. I have the F250 4x4 for that purpose.
