Actually the other truck that is in consideration is the Chevy Silverado which is cheaper than either the Ram/Dakota at base price but Dodge has better incentives which evens it out a bit. I dont buy foreign made vehicles so that leaves the big three as to why those others arent on my list.

i think the silverado is a better truck. i know many that have had both trucks. even if the hemi ram is a bit faster, the silverado is fast enough, and its way more reliable than dodge pickups have been. if i was to go fullsize, silverado is the way i would go solely on rep.

also the colorado wasnt built for speed. the thing was built to get the job done, reliable. inline engines do that the best.

I agree with your comment about the reliability of inline engines but why would GM spend the money to develop a 5 cylinder?? Why not go with a more familiar 6 cylinder arrangement?? Or another option is putting the tried and true 4.3 liter six cylinder into the desparado...I mean colorado. Chevy needs to get a clue.

Your right about the wastfull spending on new powertrain Creig, but at least GM got it right with fuel economy.

STS - your dead on with the fuel economy. My wife's 2000 Surbuban with 90K miles and a 5.3 liter V8 gets better mileage than my 4.7 liter Dak with 51K miles.

will agree with the gas mileage. i dont know about the reliablity tho. they're good trucks and i would say better than the new dakota but my friends got one with 25k miles and the trans is starting to slip. he is hard on it but a truck with that little of miles shouldnt have that problem. the silverado runs great and has plenty of power but the hemi is still my first pick. good luck with what you get but all the trucks out there are good unless you count the new ford trucks.
