Subject: Wheel spacers??? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 01 4.7 4x4 with stock 16x8" rims, I just put brand new Mastercraft Courser MT's 265/75/16 on, thought the tires peak out the wheel well more than they do, Im considering using some small wheel spacers to get the wider look, anybody ever used these? if so, how thick can you go before you need longer studs, or do some spacers come pre-studded? any suggestion on brands/good prices?

Message: The longest you can go without studs is 1/4" Ebay has some for 21$ for a set. If you go to 1. 1.5, or 2 inch it gets really pricey. Like 150 and up for a set.

Message: I've seen 3/8" spacers on Ebay. These are probably just used to reduce rubbing, not really for making the truck wider. 1/4" - 3/8" isn't all that much.

Message: Those tires are only 1" taller than the stock 265/70-16's, and no wider. That's why they don't stick out. Before you go throwing spacers on, first do this. With the engine running to make turning the steering wheel easier, check the clearance of you present tires with fenders, bodywork, steering parts, etc at various wheel angles up to full offset. Keep in mind that any spacer is going to cause your wheel/tire to travel in a wider arc, so where there was no rubbing or interference before the spacer, might just be some after.
