Subject: trans case oily IP: Logged
Message: Got up under my 01 4.7 4x4 and noticed the transfer case had dirty oil all over the outside of it, but not enough to drip, or leave a puddle behind, and my service 4wd light is not on, no weird noises, should I be concerned? Should I not use the 4wd until I get a better look see, or is this common with age?

Message: Check the fluid in it. If it's low fill it up and clean the transfer case and check if you can see where it's leaking after driving it.

Message: i know if you fill it up to full it leaks.
In the Haynes manual it says - 1)vent is clogged or jammed closed, clear or replace vent. or 2)output shaft seal damaged or installed wrong
