Subject: replacing tires IP: Logged
Message: I was looking to replace the tires on my 2001 club cab 2WD. It had a set of 255/65R16 on it. The tires that I liked were Cooper Discoverer ATRs and they only came in 255/70R16. I asked the guy at the shop if they would still fit. He did some work on the computer and made it look like he was really doing something. He told me that they would fit fine. Well, they rub on tight turns. Glad I listened to the expert! I am going to make him replace them, but I need to know what I want. Like I said, the ATRs are not made in 255/65R16. I am now looking at Cooper Discoverer H/T. Does anyone have anything good or bad to tell me about these tires? I would like to make an informed decision. Thanks a lot, guys.

Message: The tire size you got are on my 2001 and 2002 trucks, which are set to the stock ride height. I have had no rubbing *ever*. This tire is only 1" taller than the ones that came off.
I'm thinking something else is happening here. Is your truck lowered?

Message: No. Not lowered. I just discovered over my lunch break that I only have a rubbing problem on sharp left turns, not right. This, combined with the information that you gave me, makes me think that maybe a piece of plastic or something is sticking out and rubbing on the driver's side. I will have to check this out. I hope that is all it is, because I really like the tires. I just got them last night and haven't had time to mess with them or the truck yet. I'll let you know. Thanks for the help modain!

Message: I really like the look of the tires, aslo. It fits the wheelwell much better than the 65s. It eliminates enough empty space to look just right. Good luck!
