High guys, Someone out there said that they use a larger mobile 1 filter then the 204. Does anyone know that number? I do not have the cross reference guide handy right know at home. I am guessing that it will be the one that cross's to a PH8A Thanks guys!

I switched from the Mobil One once I found out they were made by Champion. I only use K&N now.

The large filter is M1-301. It will fit on the 4.7 but I doubt there is room on the 3.9,5.2, or 5.9. I've noticed the K&N and the Mobil 1 look very similar besides the sticker and the nut.

Rascal What is your problem with champion. They make alot of filters. The mobile one filter is not like the other Champion designs. The only filter that is excatly like the Mobile one in design is the UPF series from AC/Delco. I will let you figure out who makes them for AC/Delco. THey use glass fiber and wire mesh.

I bought a Mobil One filter when they first came out for a Honda. The Honda needs the anti-drainback valve or the engine will oil starve on start up...
When I installed the Mobil One, I noticed the oil starvation immediately. I removed the filter and saw that there was no valve in it. I called Mobil, (I am their biggest Mobil One Oil fan), and inquired. They told me that Champion made the filters and that they were not really familiar with the anti drain back needs...needless to say, I was disappointed to hear that.
K & N makes their own oil filter. The case is thicker and it has that big nut on the bottom to make removal easier. The insides are superior too, (from what I have read and heard from K&N), and from an article in Hot Rod.
I am not saying it is not a fine filter, just sharing my experience. When I spoke to the Mobil One engineer, I tried to let him know that their oil filters, like their oil, should be superior especially since we are paying a premium price for it. He agreed.
Just my 2 cents and that is all its worth. Did not mean to offend anyone using the filter. I use the K&N with Mobil One oil.
Good luck,
Rascal

Rascal You must have purchased the wrong filter. If your vechile requires an ADV Anti drainback Valve then the filter listed by the manufacture would have one! That is an awful big mistake for this company to make. If you could have proved that then you could have got a free engine. Champion makes AC/Delco, STP, Mobile One. Tec 2000, Deutsch, Car&Driver, Bosch, AC/Delco Ultra GOLD and many more...... What was the year make and model of the Honda? What engine does it have?

86 Honda Accord, they only offered one engine that year though mine was fuel injected. It was the correct filter, they simply did not put the valve in it, per the engineer. You will have a very hard time convincing Champion that they owe you a new engine..again, just my experience, use whatever you like as I do.

I'd like to hear more info if anybody has it. I have a suspicion that the K&N and the Mobil 1 come from the same manufacturer. When I looked at the two together I noticed that the holes had the exact same pattern and style and also the inside seemed very similar as well as the eye could see. Other than the nut and a different sticker they kind of look like twins if I remember right. My local K-Mart doesn't carry the Mobil 1 anymore and I don't have an Auto Zone nearby so I bought a K&N last time.
