I have a 98 dakota 3.9 & it's time for a new mufler. The truck is stock & has no mods except for a k&n. I don't know what muffler is on there now as I bought the truck used. What do u guys recommend as a replacement?

What kind of sound are you going for. Loud and obnoxious? Deep and throaty? Quiet?

Go to any muffler shop, get a muffler and replace it the same way

kpg712, you should get some help for that paranoia of yours, DontBuyPete is a well known troll here and I was referring to him, plus I've never even seen your ID before. But thanks for the kind words.

Don't give into a flowmaster 40. Many stupid f*cks on this forum have total disregard for their neighbors and don't care about being loud and obnoxious. These f*cks only care about themselves. Don't let them make you think flowmaster 40's are quiet and throaty. They are annoying as hell because they are so loud. I got a flowmaster 50 series delta flow. It's still a little loud, but it sounds awesome.

Everyone needs to suck my c*ck, before I stick it down your throat while your sleeping and sufficate you.

I am also looking for a muffler upgrade. I also only want something slightly deeper sounding than stock. Thanks for the flowmaster 70 suggestion. Any idea how it compares to a dynomax? I tow a camper occasionally and don't want to go deaf from the sound reflecting off the trailer through the rear slide window. My foot is into it more when towing and I'm sure will be louder than highway cruising. I occasionally hear an awsome sounding dodge, but don't have the time to chase the person down to ask them what kind of muffler they are running.

I have a noisy Flowmaster on the Ol 3.9.
Later I installed Gibson headers and learned their system is designed to give best performance, immagine this, where you actually drive! Around 2,000 RPM's.
I heard Gibson is quiter and doesn't have the harmonic noise of the Flomaster.

OK, with all that being said, I noticed my muffler
is starting to show signs of rotting along the
edges. At 103,000 miles, time to replace it. Any
good replacements out there that ARE quiet as the
stocker or slightly louder? Looking for something
with better flow, but without pi$$ing off the neighbors.

I have a 02 4.7 quad 4x4. I put a 50 series flowmaster SUV. I am happy with it. Better flow, little louder than stock. I have before and after videos. Let me know if you want to hear it. I did the same on a 3.9 as well. I also have videos of that exhaust.

Greetings from canada.

Yes, please send me a link. Curious to see .. err ...
hear how it sounds in relation to the stock one. I don't
want the wife waking me out of a sound sleep when she
starts the motor.

I guess if you just want it to sound like stock then replace it with a similar muffler, or go to the dealer and buy a replacement. Im sure they cost enough from the dealer though.

Nobody above has mentioned magnaflow, I have one on order and should have it to install next weekend sometime. I can let you know how it sounds and even post a sound clip.

Im also looking for a deeper tone, but I dont want it to be loud (I hope the magnaflow is not too loud)

I went to grease the zerks under my truck the other
day, & while greasing the u-joints, I saw the stock
muffler rusting at the seams. I'm pondering the
thought of a simple cat-back system. Since the cat
was replaced a year ago, I don't have to cut the
pipe this time around. Seing that cat-backs start
around ~$160, figured it be the way to go.

I have no real preference, since anything would be
better than stock I'm sure.
