Subject: high rpm smoke IP: Logged
Message: The other day I raced a full size chevy 4X4 ('95?) and my '93 hit the speed limmiter. I could beat him to 60 mph when we took off at 70 we were even. However just before I hit the rev limter smoke poured out the exhaust - could the valves be floating?

Message: Everything has a purpose - So whats with the smoke pouring out at revs around 4500 rpm? Bad valves? rings? The motor doesnt burn oil unless you run the motor into higher rpms.
The motor is a 318 w/ 175,000 miles - runs real good.

Message: Couldnt tell what color - it was at night and I saw it in my rear view mirror in his headlight. I've noticed it in 3rd gear and overdrive when I'm into the RPM's. Doesnt seem to smoke when I am in 1st or 2nd gear.
