Subject: Leak in fuel filler hose
IP: Logged

Message:
the other day i was at the gas station and pumped gas when i noticed some fuel dripping on the floor. i looked under the truck and saw that it came from the hose that runs from the fuel filler to the tank.
Now my question: can i just tape the hose, so it doesn't leak anymore when i pump gas (its only a few drops) or do i fix it completly (new hose) because of some fuel tank pressure issues?
Thx in advance for any help

get a new hose, napa sells it by the foot. When I replaced my fuel pump i replaced the hose from the truck filler cap to the tank as well as the breather hose. Cost was about $12 or so I think.

And you may have issues with check engine light coming on do to small evaporative emissions leak if you dont replace it.

My 90 dakota does it I took it to a mechanic and he said he would have to take the bed off to fix it, it's been doing it for a couple of years so I just deal with it. Mine is more that a few drips though, I found a gas station where the pumps don't pump as fast and it don't blow out.

I can't believe some of you would let gas leak
from your tank! The smell alone would want me to
take action.

It's such a EASY fix! Take a few bolts out and
get three friends to help lift the bed off the
truck.

It just puzzles me how some of you deal with
problems.. It's like putting your head in the
sand...

My truck is my work truck and I drive a gas tanker for a living so I smell like gas all day and get into my pickup and don't really notice the difference. My bed is so rusted I'm afraid to take it off, but mine hasn't been doing it lately. As for MPG I get around 17-18 which is pretty good for this truck.
