Message: Ummm, not quite. The Magnum engines oil their rockers via the pushrods. The LA's oil via 2 cam bearing passages that run into the cylinder heads, and oil via the rocker shafts. The Magnum blocks have the beef in the block to oil like the LA's, but the passages are not drilled. This is not a problem if using Magnum heads, but, if for some reason you're using a Magnum block with LA heads, the LA valvetrain will fry.

Message: Also, the La's have only the "ears" at the front of the block to attach motor mounts. The Magnums retain the "ears" but also have the engine mount "triad" at the lower central area of the block to mount there as well.

Message: Re ears on LA engine, and triad mounts added for magnum, does anyone know how the 318 (LA) mounts in the 1991 4wd Dak? Did they pull the triad ahead one year of 1992 magnum? I cant seem to find one to look at (just interested in the trivia, plus may go for the 1991 non-magnum LA ito my 90 Dak 4wd). Note this is for 1991 4wd 318.
