Why is it, that at the mall, movies, at the office etc. do people feel the need to ignore the other hundreds of empty parking spaces and come nestle their P.O.S vehicle right next to mine???? Someone, please let me know why this is!

WHat are you saying there.

Are you parking in the CLOSER parking spots to the mall, etc?

Or are you saying you are parking in the back 40 away form the mall, etc and they STILL park next to you?

Hard to make out your point there, but if it's the FIRST case, then what do you expect? :)

I know what he means. Hes parking far away so some jackass doesnt dent his truck, but people still park near him. I have the same problem. My shiny yellow r/t parked way in the back is a magnet for wanna be's with honda's.

yeah, this happens to me too. i have a bright red dak that has many mods.

My thinking is that people with decent to nice cars don't give a crap about my dak, but 16 year old boys who drive a mid 80s piece of s*** that is 6 different colors (7 including rust) practically have wet dreams about a lifted 4x4 truck.

Then they jump out excited to look and bash my door which would explain all the scratches and dents on my doors.

A lot of people like to be pricks and intentionally park their beaters next to people who are obviously trying to park far away... I'd recommend either choosing to park next to a couple nicer cars that aren't parked WAAAAY out but aren't super close either (because you'll know they care enough about their vehicle not to smack their door into yours) or park just on the outskirts rather than way out in the middle of the empty lot.

That is one thing I really liked about my old 95 dakota. It had that rubber runner that ran down the side of the door and bed. That thing was all scuffed up from people doing that.

when i was in highschool i worked at a grocery store. The owners son always parked his firebird at the back of the lot and it still got hit.

BASTARDS!!!

no, heh, my Ram has those little rubber things on it, but you know what, after having my dakota as long as i have, i realize one thing, in WI it doesnt matter if it has a few scratches or dents, pretty soon there will be gapping rust holes to draw your attention away from them :D

So I have noticed that people park closer to my new truck than the old one regardless if it's in parking lots or at a stop light. I think it has to do with the size. My 2002 is considerably taller than my old 1995. It's almost like they find a reference point (hitch, license plate, etc) and pull up until they can't see it.

Problem solved. I took my hitch light out and put my drawbar/ball in. I have seen people's cars parked right up against it in parking lots (malls, wal-mart, kroger, etc). Nice paint job cornholio, check out that scratch you just made in your junker.

I talked to a buddy at work about this yesterday and he said had the same issue so he did as I did and left his drawbar/ball in. He said one day him and his wife were going to leave the mall and he saw something hanging from it. He took a closer look at it was someones airdam. It was hanging from the ball.

Speaken of parken lots... Frecken Wal-Mart and
their morons that re-designed all the parking lots
when they added the "Super Wal-Mart" now have the
spaces so close together and VERY narrow
driveways to them, you can't help getting dents
and dings anymore.

It's now even harder to turn into a empty space
without stopping, backing up and trying again.

Where do they find these collage educated
morons?

Good observation. Now that you mention it, same thing here.

Funny thing is parking spots are getting smaller while vehicles are getting larger.

Tell me about it! I have a phantom dent about quarter sized right next to my door handle, see it every time I grab the door :-\

On the smaller spots/larger vehicles...don't forget the higher percentage of poor drivers. I've been driving for almost 3 years, totalling around 50K miles. I haven't had any accidents or butthole-puckering near misses. That can't be said for probably 80% of my graduating class...people need to pay attention.

Wish I could leave the ball mount in my hitch, year or two and it would be rusted solid up here in PA.
