Subject: CTM went nuts

Last Sunday I was returning home and noticed my
dome light never turned off. When I got home I
opened the door and the two lights above the
mirror turned on (like they should) and timed off
as normal but the dome light remained on. No one
turned it on (pushing the lights on/off switch)
so now what?

I thought, what the heck give it a try and I
removed the neg side of the battery to reset the
computer. When I reconnected the battery the
dome light came right back on PLUS now the two
lights above the mirror are also on. The lights
never timed out. I waited at least a half hour
and still the lights are on.

I removed the fuse for the lights. I also noticed
the radio went dead too when that fuse was
removed. That fuse has nothing to do with the
radio. There is a fuse just for the radio.

Anyway, Monday morning I'm about ready to head
for work. For the heck of it I put the fuse back
in for the lights (and radio dah) and ALL is ok
once again!

So I'm just wondering if anyone else had this
happen to them? A self fixing CTM! lol

Gawd, you just gotta wonder how all this
electronics in todays cars and trucks have any
life at all. Just think of all the voltage spikes
its gotta get beat with everytime you start the
engine up.

BTW, it's a 02 Sport 4X4, 4.7. Great truck but
I'll never trust the CTM from killing the
battery again. Now I'll have to *check* to make
sure the lights time themselves out.

Engineers, you gotta love em!
