First off, 99 5.2 dakota. here the problem.
Oil pressure sometime falls to dead, zero, not reading anything. I pull over, cut the engine off. Start it back and have good pressure. this is at low rpm, from maybe 10-35 mph..at 50-60 the oil pressure seems to be fine, it doesnt fall. its like there may be a short or something. Also my abs and speedo are going haywire which im about to replace the sensor, just wondering if somehow this may be affecting the oil pressure reading. Ive seen pressure drops in other vehicles but not from zero to 40 and then back to zero...its like flicking a light switch, theres no gradual decline in pressure, it just bottoms out. any suggestions.. thanks.

HOOSIERDAK,
It sounds like your sending unit is going bad for the oil pressure gauge. The ABS and speedo thing is the sensor in the rear axle, But that shoudn't have any effect on the oil pressure gauge.

does sound like the oil sending unit may be going bad. I am not sure, but those may use the same ground. Check the wiring diagrams in the haynes manual.

There is a special socket you can get. I changed it on my old 1995. It was at the back of the engine beside the distributor cap. I got my socket for $10-11 at napa. It's a tough to get to with a wrench, I recommend the socket.

If you search, I wrote some instructions on how to test the guage (in the dash) using a jumper wire to determine if the issue is your guage or the sending unit.
