Subject: spicer u-joints - where to buy? IP: Logged
Message: Spicer universal joints seem to be highly recommended by everyone, but I can't find them at any of the local auto parts stores (Napa, Advance, Autozone and CarQuest).
I see that Summit Racing has Precision u-joints. Could anyone perhaps recommend something other than Spicers? Neapco maybe (they are plentiful)?

Message: I believe the manufacturers use Spicers. I'm thinking you'd have to get them from the dealer.
A NAPA u-joint will work just fine, unless you are planning on putting a lot of off road stress on the running gear. In my opinion the #1 cause of u-joint failure is improper installation.
Make sure you get joints that are greaseable.

Message: Well now I have an issue with the right size to get. Carquest says both u-joints are the same size (1.125"). O'Reilly says they are different sizes (front and rear u-joints on the rear axle). The Dodge dealership shows two different part numbers but the guy couldn't tell me what sizes they were. What gives? I'll buy two of those Spicer u-joints from AccuAutoParts as soon as I'm sure that they are the right size!
