Subject: Coil wire causes truck to stall? IP: Logged
Message: My truck stalled on me today and after about 30 minutes, it started just fine. This is the 3rd this has happened. I took it to be fixed or find the problem. The shop fixed it and said that the coil wire was too big and was causing an open spark. I have a 1997 dak sport with 318. I have MSD super conductor 8.5mm plug wires and the coil wire. Could this really be what was causing my truck to stall and restart just fine a half hour later? Anybod y ever hear of this? Let me know!

Message: this last time it happened. I was half way into a car wash and had to push my truck through!! It stalled when the Undercarrige Wash began and I figured the blast knocked something loose or got something wet!

Message: If the rubber boot doesn't make a solid connection on the distributer or coil tower, it will short out and quit running when it gets wet.

Message: I had a similar problem with coil wires except they were the two wires on the bottom of the coil. It would stall around 2000 rpms and sometimes at idle. I replaced the wires, coil and coil wire. No problem since.
