Subject: Ticking (or whining) in transmission?? IP: Logged
Message: I have a '01 4x4 Dak with a auto trans. when shifting into Drive (from park or reverse), there is a ticking or whining noise for 2-3 seconds while the transmission engages. This also happens when shifting from park in and out of drive and reverse.
Any ideas whould be greatly appreciated...

Message: my '01 4.7 has the same issue. I have had the dealer actually replace the driveshaft for it. It also occurs during any type of action that puts torque on the truck. They have no answer as of yet. Possibly some kind of clearance issue. My clicking is in the driveshaft though.

Message: Normal Auto Engagement for Chrysler's. If it didn't do it it would be broke!

Message: Driveshaft would be a problem, but with the Transmission normal. The transmission sounds like that on every auto Chrysler that I've heard.
