Subject: turn key few times to start IP: Logged
Message: 94 4x4 318.. I originally thought I had a problem with my nuetral start switch or shift linkaage adjustment, but after replacing the switch and also having the same problem. I found that I can turn the key multiple times with no reaction whatsoever. and then it turns over and starts and runs fine. I used to wiggle the shifter but I think in essence I was doing the same thing as turning the key on and off.
so.. could it be the starter solenoid? any other suggestions. the adjustments seems fine, and it starts usually on the first try after I have warmed up the truck.
Thanks!

Message: Yes , either starter solenoid /or ignition switch
= have someone listen closely as you turn the key to start -=- if a 'Click ' or clunk is heard
then ignition switch is ok and all other neutral
switches and problem is Starter solenoid.
If no ' Click ' or clunk then need to narrow down
to possible ignition switch issue..

Message: Probably the ignition switch. Mine went out a couple years ago in my 92. Same symptoms. It is a common Chrysler problem from that era. I have a Lebaron that the same thing happened too as well.

Message: I was hoping it was the switch, but I can hear the solenoid click every time I try to turn it over, it takes a few times, then the starter kicks in and it starts up great. but I'm not sure the best way to remove the stearing part in the way. it is the part that is between the firewall and the stering gear, like a driveshaft with u-joints on each end.

Message: Before you spend money remove and clean your battery cables > Also check there connection and ground at other end > It is common to lose enough connection to have a no start like you but still enough to activate other things > Give it a try
So many problems > So little time
