Message: The main difference is the body trim. You get the fancy painted fender flares and painted bumpers. Other differences include lower suspension (hence the lower towing capacity), slightly different heads, and a different cam. LSD is standard on an R/T aswell.

Message: It depends on if you are talking GenIII or IV.
A GenIII RT gets the 5.9 engine, lowered suspension and bigger exhaust. Some badging and that is it. The engine is identical to any other 5.9 - no special heads, etc. Gears are 3.92 with LSD I think.
A GenIV is just a trim package, and is available on both 4x2 and 4x4 versions. I think you might be able to get the RT package without actually putting the HO version of the 4.7 in as well, but I am not 100% certain on that.

Message: 1998-2003 Dodge Dakota R/T:
5.9L 360ci V8 Engine - 250hp, 345tq
46RE 4-spd (3+OD) automatic transmission
Upgraded Suspension consisting of special leafs, coils, shocks, and upgraded front and rear sway bars - 1" lower than standard Dakotas
Body-colored front and rear bumpers
Fender Flares are standard
17x9 R/T rims - '98-'01 Silver, '02-'03 Chrome
255/55-17 Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires
The vast majority (99%) of R/T's came with the 3.92 posi rear end, a small handful of early ones have 3.55's.
2.5" Single Exhaust
'03 R/T - 4-wheel disc brakes and a soft tonneau
Some late model '03 R/T's also came with the Stampede Body Kit
There is no difference between the 5.9L V8 engine that came in the R/T and what was available in the 2000+ Dakota Quad Cab or the Dodge Durango. The engine was never upgraded by Daimler-Chrysler during the 7 year run of Gen III Dakotas, although plenty of aftermarket parts are available.

Message: DAMMMMN. Sin city, you got that memorized or what? you hit everything. well, short of the crappy brake rotors, and horrid ball joints... ;)
BTW is that a tonneu cover with a spoiler built into it in your pic? kinda looks like it... where'd you score that?
the only things I see shorted is that 5.9 is similar to whats also available in the Jeep Grand cherokee limited 5.9 ( for some reason it lacked the R/T designation, maybe cause it wasn't a "Dodge"... and also in the Ram pick up... and that late production (2002? and 2003) had a deletion of the badgeing decals for the "Dakota 5.9L" decals. oh, and the difference of Intake design for the EGR/ non EGR version... pre 93 5.9's had a bit larger exhaust manifold too, but that I think is straying off the R/T designation...
Yea, it's weird that Dodge offers an "R/T" 5.9 head, but used stock heads in production...
sure does suck about the ricer gen IV's though... all show and no go.

Message: Yes the spoiler is integrated into the back of the tonneau. It is made by Innovation Fiberglass out of California. I have links and pictures to it and many other tonneaus on my site (the parts pages make it easier to show categories of parts rather than cross-posting one at a time).
