Message: Hey Cyberwolf, great job on your web page.
I have pretty much the same truck but mine's a 2000 4X4. Those grille inserts look really good, I know exactly what you used (hehe). I'm going to pick up the material at work tommorrow. I never thot of using that stuff before, I know what I'm doing this weekend. Thanks for the idea.
How did you attach the insert to the hood? screws???

Message: I used the same technique as you used for your grill on the bottom openings as well looks great and you would never know what is made of!! I bet a lot of people are trying to figure it out. They will die when you tell them how EXPENSIVE it is. HA.!

Message: Wow - Is it that obvious? hehehe - I havent had a chance to do the valance yet. Soon though. I held the grill on with zip tie mount pads and very tiny zip ties. You can NOT see them from the outside at all. The zip tie mount pad is a little 1" x 1" plastic piece that is held on with double stick tape. The zip ties were $1.50 and the mount pads were $9.50 for 100 each. The "grill" was $.89 each and it took 4. It is strong and looks great IMHO.
Thank yall for the good comments. The site is always under construction (as most are) so keep checking back for new stuff. Maybe one day my site will be as good as some of the others I've seen.

Message: Site looks good. That gutter gaurd grille looks great I've seen that method used on cars ranging from cobra mustangs to grand prix's. It's gotta be the best $5 appearance mod ever created.
Your truck looks great too! I love that hood but what does it say on the cowl???

Message: Hey on the valance the clips that come attached to the gutter guard will slide on right at the top. After that the only other way I found was to drill six well placed holes behind the license plate. You cant see anything and it keeps it tight against the valance with no rattles. The little mount pads I got did not last long going down these bumpy white rock roads in far north dallas. Cyberwolf, I got the idea from you on the grill and valance from the Dallas meet.

Message: Grill looks really sharp, at first glance it looks like the Ram, but it's less of a honeycomb. Can we have a hint? Did you get it at Home Depot in the soffit/fascia/eaves section?
How on earth would you install it on the bottom part, looks tricky. Very nice anyway.

Message: I will put pics of the valance up tonight. I was too chicken to do the grill yet. Looks like it would be very hard to go back to the stock grill if needed. I really dislike the way the factory puts the stock grill on. Screws would have been so much easier.

Message: Most grill replacements use a latch relocation kit. I know that the grilles from street scenes and Mr. Grille come with them, but I'm not sure if either company sells them separately. It consists of a length of coat-hanger-thick wire that attaches to your latch assembly and hangs downward within reach if you slip your fingers in below the grille at the bottom. Most involve drilling 2-3 holes and use the tube behind the grille as guides for the wire. You can find links to both manufacturers on my website under the modifications page, and I'll be snapping some pictures of my installation tomorrow so it'll be displayed on the website by this weekend.

Message: I rigged up my own latch assembly. I didn't do it like most others because they tend to make it more difficult that it actually is. I can't really explain it though. I'll have to put pics and instructions up on my site.

Message: I want to Thank everyone here for their posts, without them I would have never of thot of doing this job. I just finished making my own inserts it took sometime, but it was worth all 4 hours.
I did the lower valance that was hard, no room to work between the bumper and the rad, like 2". I drilled very small holes in the valance and ran alum wire and twisted to hold the insert. It worked perfect.
The grill, I removed the whole front section which made the job a lot easier to do. I removed the louvers in the grill, drilled some small holes on the back of the grill and ran alum wire and twisted to hold the insert. This took almost 3 hrs to do, a lot of work.
I then riged up my own coat hanger release for the hood very easy, (Thanks SlimCity) I used acouple of zip ties to hold the hanger in place, so it wouldn't bend. Worked out perfect.
All in all this job cost my under $10.00 cdn, and 4 hours of work and cuts from the rad. But the end result is just a master piece. Oh Ya I think they sell the SS grill here in Toronto for around $350-$400 cdn for the whole kit. Good deal for sure.
I hope to have pics up soon on my site.
Thanks Again,
Anthony
