Subject: Malfunction Indicator LIght IP: Logged
Message: I was driving home today when the MIL light turned on. It remained on the entire drive. Is there anything I can do to fix it or is there anyone with advice on what I should do? Is it serious enough where I have to take it in?

Message: Without starting the eninge, turn the key on-off-on-off-on and leave it there. The MIL code(s) will be displayed in the odometer. "p done" will be displayed after the last code is shown. Once you have the code(s) you can look it up via internet or printed resources. I can't seem to find a link for an on-line resource. Maybe someone else can find one.
If the MIL light is on steady while the engine is running it is a minor condition. If it flashes then the code retrieved will be of a serious drivability nature, such as cylinder misfire, injector malfunction. You should limit your driving if you have a flashing MIL situation; further driving could lead to damage, etc.

Message: You can pull the code yourself to see what the problem might be. Turn ignition on (not start) off on off on and a code will appear in the odometer, followed by "pdone". Then find a chart for the obd ii codes, or if you post the code here someone will probably tell you what it is.

Message: PO700 is going to store another (DTC) code which can only be read by a code reader. Try autozone, they'll read it for free. Or any other place that'll read it for you.

Message: I was on my way to get the MIL serviced today the the light went out. I called them and they said if its not broke, dont fix it(to save me some money). They said if the truck starts acting up, to go ahead and bring it in. Even though the light turned off, the P0700 code still appears when I try the on/off with the egnition. Any thoughts?

Message: At least it gave you a reading. I have a problem with mine coming on and not giving a code. Every time I check for the code I get an error. The dealer originally told me that it was from the O2 Sensor, but I've never seen it. Eventually I will change the upstream O2 Sensor, but it's not costing me gas milage yet.

Message: PO700 code will also set another code that can only be read by a code reader. PO700 by its self isn't going to tell you anything. Have it read at autozone . (assumiing it can drive).

Message: 0733 and 0734 in the book go to: 3 and 4 gear (respectively) have incorrect gear ratio.
If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks...well...it needed to be replaced anyway.

Message: Sonny, the problem could be in the transmission. There is an input speed sensor and an output speed sensor on the auto tranny. The TCM knows what to expect from those sensors (difference between the sensor outputs) in any gear. Depending on the type of trans you got, could be as simple as a band adjustment.
Coincidentally, 3rd and 4th are the gears where the torque converter lock can be activated.
