Subject: AC/Heater fan 90 Dak IP: Logged
Message: Help! The AC/Heater fan quit on my 90 Dakota. It's cold out there without heat... The fuse is good, all the other accessories on that power strip in the fuse box (fuses 1, 2, and 3--the heater is #4) work fine. I don't know where the heater fan is on these things. It's not out in the open on the firewall like it is on every GM I've owned....

Message: Ouch. Guess I gotta wait until my other car gets back from the shop so I have something to drive while I'm tearing this one apart. Take out the dash???!!! Man...
Anyway, thanks for the quick reply.

Message: I wouldn't be too quick to take out the dash. There is a blower motor resistor that is a weak link in the system. If you look on the firewall under the hood, on the passenger side, you'll see a plastic square with a wiring plug on it, held to the firewall by two screws. Take it out, and I'd almost bet you'll see a burned wire in it. New resistors are around fifteen bucks I think, but if you have a soldering gun and a little time, you can resolder the burned wire to another point on the same strip and it will work like new.

Message: Now that's interesting. I'll give it a try before tearing into the underside of the dash...
