I recently bought a 2005 dodge dakota, so far I have put 6000 miles on it. I noticed my front brakes have been vibrating and pulling. I took it in to the dealersip today and was told that the bolt for the driver's side lower control arm was sheared off. They said I must have hit a big pot hole, I never remeber hitting one and there is no other dammage at all(bent rims any other dammage). Now, even if I did hit a pot hole, How in gods name does the lower control arm bolt shear off? Its a fulcrum point on the frame which is never subjected to major jarring or shock loads. I think its a substandard bolt. what do you guys think?

I agree. It would take a heck of a lot of force to shear that bolt off it were the correct grade and installed correctly. You're right, you should expect to have other damage as well.

Something I learned a long time ago: Dodge cannot make good IFS
front ends for the life of themselves... they are complete and utter
crap... as I have learned with my 99 dak and caravan..

My solid front ram on the other hand is a different story

Looks like the new dak's front end is no different... srew that

well, the dealership decided to fix it under warranty. So I am a little more happy. I still dislike this truck
