Subject: 89 5spd tranny into a 90?

I have a 90 dakota with a bad tranny,
someone nearby is selling a 89 dakota with a bad motor and good tranny.

anyone know if this tranny will work with my truck?

I have an '89 Dakota and the engine is dying slowly but surely. There are a few engines around and I know the magnum style engines are more powerful. I believe the '92 engines are the first that have the magnum configuration. I'm just wondering if there are any differences in the bolt patterns?

Bolt pattern for all 3.9/5.2/5.9 bellhousings are the same.

I went ahead and bought the 89' parts truck.
and will put the tranny into my 90'
