Subject: replacing crankshaft position sensor

Can someone tell me a good way to replace the crankshaft position sensor in a 95?

I removed the EGR, EGR tube and oil sending unit. I can't seem to break the screws (not bolts, but hex screws holding it in place). I don't have enough room to reach through the wheel well. I can't seem to get enough leverage to loosen the screws. I sprayed it alot with liquid wrench and didn't seem to help. My craftsman hex set won't reach do to clearance issues. I bought an allen set but can't get enough pressure to loosen them. I'm afraid I will strip it.

I dont think i can reach it from underneith the vehicle either.

I am not sure that I can reach it by removing the header. I have never removed the header from my truck. I will probably have to drill/sand the bolts from it.

Alot of the bolts on the engine on my truck are stuck, they are the original. I had to cut the head off of one of the egr tube bolts to get it out, the other came out with ease.

I was going to drop it off at the shop I use but they are too busy and would have to be there a couple of days. The weather here has been icy the last few and I need my 4x4.

I always use a propane torch on stuck bolts.
Get it hot, then shoot it with penetrating oil.
And whack it with a hammer if you can.

Is there room to use a hand-held impact tool?

I might be able to use pneumatic tools if I got extensions on the egr bolt. However, that's probably going to strip it faster than my socket set.

That's a good idea, I may see if I can find a small pneumatic drill. I can probably fit that in better than my corded or cordless drills.

My rotary tool (craftsman version of dremel that I got as a present) has been a very useful tool for me.
