Subject: K&N FIPK Question IP: Logged
Message: Just installed a K&N FIPK on my 4.7L Dak and have noticed a significant decrease in fuel economy (18 city to 14 city). It also feels like it's running rough. Any know of a reason why???

Message: Look over the entire engine bay for a vacuum hose
or electricial connection you may have
disconncted while installing the K&N.
Good luck

Message: I checked all connections and vacuum hoses and everything was secure. Then I reset the PCM. It took a while for it to "learn" the new readings and now it runs great. While I had the intake off I went ahead and cleaned the TB.

Message: I usually get that in city driving with my 4.7. I have a stock air filter. could also be the winter gas and the cold but I cant see yo uever getting over 18 city. I get from 16 to 18 city driving. K&N filters will coat your intake and TB in a thin film of oil and grit. I fould that with the drop in filter I got from K&N. I went back to my stock air filter. better air flow to me isnt worth it when it let its oil and grime go in to your engine.

Message: I've owned several K&N filters and have never had a problem with the oil. I ran some Sea Foam through my fuel system and through the TB/intake manifold and my dak runs like it's never run before.

Message: Not sure about the running rough issue but my 5.9 R/T gets around 14 mpg with a K&N cold-air kit.
