Message: I just bought a 2000 4.7 4x4 dakota a few weeks ago and i love it. but i noticed that the drivers side is about 1 in higher then the passanger side afer measuring it on even ground. I was just woundering if any one has had a similar problem and if it is just a quick adjustment to fix or if its a big problem.

Message: Are all four tires inflated the same? I don't own that type of dakota, does it have torsion arms? Could they possibly be uneven?

Message: Yup, that's got torsion bars - might just need a simple adjustment. You can change height yourself turning the bolt toward the rear of the bar for the low bucks fix. Might make sense to have the alignment checked, may have been quite a while since done - ride height is an easy adjustment while they've got it on the lift.

Message: Mine's around a half inch higher on the passanger side, I really dont worry about it anymore since I know a fix for it, and I know its not a big deal.

16 year old torsion bars you know
plus now the added weight of a v-8 instead of the 6 sags them a littl elower than they used to be
maybe a body lift is in order?

Message: ALL dakotas (4x4) 87-04 have torsion bars, i think 05s have a coil over IFS like the new 06 rams

Message: What about an 02' 2WD? My truck pulls to the right damn hard and my passenger side is .5" lower. Could this be bad bushings or just an alignment problem? I've checked my tires and psi is optimal in both. I just can't finger out the problem.

Message: 1hotkadota, '02 2wd does not have torsion bars. i know this is the obvious but, have you checked tire size & pressure? if you bought the truck used do you know if it's been wrecked or not?
if your tires are wearing unevenly you may want to take it in and have it aligned or at least checked.
