Subject: Drop-in Bedliner over a Spray-On IP: Logged
Message: Anyone tried to install a drop-in bedliner (e.g., Penda bedliner) in a truck that has a spray-on liner? The previous owner of the 04 Dak I just bought had a spray-on liner installed. The liner doesn't have a label on it (like Rhino, Line-X, etc.) and it is rather thinly applied. My old truck had a Penda drop-in liner for over 15 years, and it was still in great shape when I sold the truck. I'd like to install a Penda in this Dodge, but I don't know how well it would fit since the spray-on material "rounded off" some of the angles stamped in the bed's sheet metal.

Message: sounds like the previous owner did it themselves. you can buy the roll on herculiner from auto parts stores. i believe in the "you get what you pay for" saying. thats why i went out and spent the bill$ and got my truck line-x'ed. your old bedliner in your truck may have been fine after 15 years, but did you ever pull it out and see what condition your actual bed was in? those dropins scratch all the paint off the bed and allow it to collect moisture and rust without you even knowing about it. just my .02 cents.

Message: When I got my LineX liner installed in my 04 Dak the guy told me I had two options. I could go for the thick liner which was guaranteed for like 5 years. (Can't exactly remember) Or the thin liner which was only guaranteed for a year. Why the hell anyone would go for the crappy one I have no idea. Whats the point really? What I'm trying to say is it shouldn't last too long, and you can probably put whatever you want in it within the next year or so.

Message: I believe you can install penda liner over spray on. In fact, Penda sell bed protection mat to put between the liner and the floor. I guess this protection mat is even thicker than spray on, so it should be OK.
