Subject: Stalls when cold IP: Logged
Message: '96 3.9 auto. Won't stay running after you start it. After it warms up, it runs fine. You can smell raw fuel (outside of the cab) when you start cold. Had this problem before and changed the cap and rotor and the problem went away. Thanks for your input.

Message: The problem took care of itself. I had been in Mexico and must have gotten some bad gas. I filled 'er up with premium and added some dry gas and injection cleaner and it runs fine after going through a quarter of a tank. What puzzles me tho, is why would it only run sh**ty when cold? If the gas was bad, wouldn't it run bad throughout the temperature range? Maybe the injection cleaner freed up a sticky part? Any ideas?

Message: Well, I jumped the gun. Still quits when cold. Worked okay for a day but right back to the same behavior today. Wonder if I have a bad sensor somewhere......

Message: I don't know about your truck but my 04 Dak says not to take anything with a higher rating octaine then regular. It especially points out not to use any detergents or injector cleaner. Heres a long shot, but did you try reseting your computer? It has to recalculate everytime you dump crap in your tank.

Message: Last night on my way home the check engine light came on with a "1-4" code which I believe has to do with the MAP sensor voltage. This morning, started right up and is running normally. I reset the computer and the light and codes are gone, and it still runs great. You might be right about the octane AND the computer. We'll see how it goes from here. I hate to change the MAP sensor if I don't have to.
