Message: I had some LT285/75/16 open country AT's for a while after my lift, they were o.k., pretty quiet on the pavement, but I thought M/S rating was not that great as they didn't perform very well in either situation.

Message: I actually just picked up a set of toyo open country a/ts today and I really like them. They grip the road better then my stock tires did and they look good on the dakota.

Message: got the LT235/75/15s on my 2wd 98 kota and they work great. Quiet on the highway, good traction on the snow (with some help from sandbags over the axle of course) Overall a great tire. Saw them on almost every truck or suv up at lake tahoe on vacation and figured if they're running them up there in the winter they must be good. Came home and 3 months later had a set put on my truck.

Message: Well the first snow with the toyos came today but I wasn't up until 2 in the afternoon so I didn't get to go play in any unplowed streets or parkinglots. However they did very well on the side roads which did have a good amount of slush on them. More snow is coming monday night into tuesday morning (3-5 inch estimate for ct right now). I should be able to get to drive in some unplowed/poorly plowed streets and the highway as I work the night shift. Is there something wrong with me since Im actually looking foward to this?

Message: Nope..I'd rather they didn't plow the roads at all sometimes. Much rather drive on packed snow than slush, not to mention all the salt on the roads.

Message: 2000 Dak. Quad Cab 4x4- I just purchased new, a set of YOKOHAMA Geolander 31x10.5 which are rated for 60k miles, great for wet surfaces....snow/rain etc. Paid $102. each. They are fine. Last set I had on were KELLY Safari's 50k miles which......in my opinion were great. They were about $125. each then. Quiet on the hiway and handled supurb on rain and snow conditions (both sets)- Don't just get a set of tires cause they look good, get a set for your use/conditions etc. I do alot of hiway driving and plus I'm here in good ol New England. When I bought the truck before the KELLEYS, it had the GOODYEAR Wranglers which I think were junk. They are square, loud and they ALWAYS Cup. I'm NOT bad mouthing GOODYR. tires. I just think the Wranglers are a crappy tire. Not much life to them. Hey, there are alot of "good" tires out there. Take your time looking. Good luck!

Message: tim,
I live in rochester, NY and I would recomend the bridgestone dueler A/T revo's. I started with goodyear AT/s's and they were ok. Sounds like Stu had the RT/s's. They definately suck.
Make sure the get the Revo's, there is a huge difference between the Revo and the regualr Dueler A/T. They look good, handle very well wet, dry and even on ice. This will be my third season through the winter. They were brand new for the first, and about 15k old for the second. I really couldn't tell the difference. Hoepfully they will be the same this year.
I am not a hard core off roader, so I can't tell you first hand how they are in real bad mud. I've heard they are top notch though.
They also remain at the top of the listings on tirerack.com
They are a little on the pricey side.

Thankyou for your recomendation of the dueler revos. I checked them out and they look really nice. The only thing is they seem more agressive than I need. I really do not go off road at all. Just up north snowboarding or a little camping in the summer.
Do you just use them for the road and winter weather? How are they on noise?

Message: Tim I am not crow but I had them before my dakota on my Jeep Cherokee. I never noticed any change in the noise level on the Cherokee from the stock tires. I also have a friend who placed them on his Tundra and my Boss (who told me about them) placed them on his brand new Chevy 3/4 ton diesel.
I also can't speak for the off roading but for the general driving summer and winter (6" snow or less on a road) they work great.
I am going to need new tires for next winter and the Revo's are the one to beat. Although I really like the BFG AT KO's (always have). In fact I was ready to buy them for the Cherokee until I read about the Revo's on Tirerack.
The other ones I am looking at are the Geolanders and another I can't recall right now.

Message: I had the open country at's on my Dak 4wd qc for two years. They were ok but i doubt id buy them again.
Pros-
Great trcation in the snow, mud etc.
Quiet for an off road tire when new.
Pretty resistant to hydroplaning.
Very predictable handling.
Priced right
Cons-
Tread life stinks. I only got 35k out of mine. rotated every 6k and run at 32psi. I wore out the middle. My tire dealer says its common. Shoot i got more life out of the goodyears.
They get loud as they wear. Near the end of life on mine they were annoying they were so loud.
Rough ride, they are a little stiff in the sidewall
Gas milage, i dropped 2mpg on the freeway from where my dakots ran with the badyears and the uniroyals i have now.
I dumped the Toyo's over last summer and i got a set of Uniroyal cross country. The uniroyal is a little more of a road based tread but seems to be a much better tire to me. They are great in the rain, seem pretty good in the snow but we havent had enough in Mass to really tell( will know on fri for sure). They are also dead quiet, ride good and seem to be wearing like iron. i have 25k on then now and they still look like new. i fully expect them to last the 60k uniroyal warranties then for and then some. The price was right in line with the Toyo.

Message: Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone that replied to me know that I went with the bridgestone dueler A/T revo's.
I got them for about 130.00 a piece. All together with the road protection and mounting and balancing I paid like 700.00. So far I have done some highway driving, driving in the rain and some driving in the snow and I love them. You can not even compare them to the Good years. They are quit they look good and traction is awesome.
Thanks for all your help.
