Message: I have a question about the FSM's for those that have copies. Does it list output voltages for sensors? I've had to replace the MAP and TPS sensors on my truck. I have a subscription to Alldata and it does not list output voltages for all sensors.

Message: Dan.
Sensor troubleshooting procedure usually includes the use of a DRB III scan tool to verify operation of the sensor, by setting up certain conditions and checking the output is within a certain range. For that reason, it's getting harder to find these tables in the FSMs, Haynes or Chilton's manuals.
I just went through several sections in my FSM, but couldn't locate any resistance tables for the sensors you mentioned.
The FSM is not well thought out, though, so the tables could be there.
Somewhere. Maybe.
I'll keep looking.

Message: I am looking at getting the actron superscanner 9510. It comes with cables to scan older vehicles as well as OBDII. It has a section on sensors, but the online manual does not give specific details. I am assuming it reads the input and output voltage from the computer.
As an example, from doing alot of searching on the internet ,I was able to determine that the voltage should be < 4.96 for the MAP sensor (from codes) with engine off and ignition on. The code also said it should be above .16V. I also found that with ignition on, engine off the voltage should be at it's highest. As the throttle plate opens, the voltage should drop. I was able to find one reference for chrysler vechiles that said that at idle the voltage drop should be < 2.1V. when I tested mine (using 3 jumper wires I made using small insulated alligator clips for one end), it dropped about 3V. I assumed this to be bad as well as finally getting a code that indicated the MAP sensor was bad.
I am hoping that the scantool can read the voltage and that I can refer to the FSM that for the correct voltage requirements.

Message: I have a '01 FSM and in addition I bought the various diagnostic procedures books too. The book goes through step by step diagnostic procedures and mentions with a code of P0122 to check that the voltage of the 5 Volt Supply circuit in the TPS harness connector should be between 4.5 and 5.5 volts. (Duh, if it's the 5 volt supply circuit) There should also be below 2.0 volts at idle to above 3.5 volts at WOT.
As for the MAP sensor, using diagnostic procedures for code P0107, it says to check for the volts with the ignition on and engine off to be 1.2 and with the engine on to be .04. This is with the DRBIII scan tool of course. There is also one of those 5 volt supply circuits too.
Let me know if you want more of the diag procedures.

Message: Thanks Gary. That is the kind of info I'm looking for. I think I'll hunt around for an FSM cd for my 1995.

Message: I didn't know you have a '95. I don't think that Chrysler Tech Authority has the diag books for that old a model. Ebay is your friend!
Good luck,

Message: Dan M, from 95 FSM: at idle, TPS voltage should be above 200mV; at WOT it should be below 4.8V . MAP should read 4-to-5V with ignition on and engine off and 1.5-to-2.1V with hot neutral idle.

Message: alldata did mention the TPS information. But nothing for MAP sensor. It only listed the circuit information, nothing pertaining to voltage.
My original TPS was < 200 mV (around 170 as I recall) with ignition on/engine off. I replaced it.
The MAP sensor voltage has to be < 4.96V or you get a code. I believe mine tested < 1.5V as well @ idle. This seemed like to big a jump and besides, I finally got a code for it. Replaced it as well.
Thanks for all the input. I will be picking up an FSM.
95V6 .. is your FSM printed or on CD? Where did you get it? I have 95 CC 3.9L auto 4x4.

I've been told here that manuals only go back 10 years. Not true. I received a 1992 manual for my truck when it was 12 years old. You can order them over the phone with a credit card; 7-10 days for delivery. Mine was $67.

Message: mine came w/ the truck (i bought it used). Seems like original manual, published in 94. Try Bob's advice and contact Chrysler.
