Subject: Squeaking front end - NOT sway bar IP: Logged
Message: Recently my front end has developed squeaking noises that tend to be most when going over bumps, etc. I can push down on the front end and it squeaks going down, but not on back up. It also happens sometimes when I turn the steering wheel.
I say its not the sway bar bushings because I replaced those about 4 months ago and sanded/grinded the bar to a nice, smooth finish and it fixed the problem. Also, it doesn't seem to be the same kind of squeaking, if that makes sense.
About a month ago I had the dealer replace the upper ball joints per the recall, and it seemed to come about after that, if that helps.
Any ideas?

Message: Anything that's rubber or poly against metal can cause that noise. Try greasing the shock bushings. Spray some penetrating oil into the upper and lower a-arm bushings - WD-40 is not penetrating oil.
My money is still on the sway bar bushings, though ;)

Message: Thanks for the help guys. I will check those bushings this weekend, and since it isn't too much trouble I will probably go ahead and pull the sway bar to check those bushings too.

Message: Check your shocks, mine squeeked until I replaced them. It was very annoying driving down a country road and hearing the squeak on every little bump.
