I;ve got a 97 5.2 cc 4x4 automatic, the sticker in the glove box says its got the 44RE trans, the problem is, while im speeding up from a stop, it doesnt want to shift from 3rd to 4th, it will rev all the way up to 3500 RPMs and then it shifts really hard, but if i let off the gas it shifts smooth like it should .. anyone heard of this problem???

same trannys don't have the problem but would recommend get the fluid changed. it's probably something to do with the governors in the trans.
"good luck" and inform if you fix the problem.
some mods to slow it down!
