Message: Pull off the rear cover. Check drained oil for chunks. Wipe out the inside. Rotate the gears, and look for anything that doesn't look right. Clean off cover and housing surfaces. Apply silicone sealant. Install cover. Wait at leadt 4-5 hours, preferably 12. Fill with your favorite fluid; don't forget anti-slip additive if needed.

Message: 12 hours? my God man, you let the RTV set for 15 minutes, put the cover on and fill the thing up.
You don't make a living doing this, do you?

Thinking of changing your own fluid? (DIY) ...
Helpful Differential Recommendations:
-Flush (drain) as much of the old fluid out.
-Differential fluid capacity depends on ring gear and axle housing size.
-Do not over/under fill differential. This could mean a capacity difference of a quart or more and may cause overheating problems. (See the owner’s manual for proper fill level)
-After changing the differential fluid, drive the vehicle in 7 or 8 figure eight turns, so the new lubricant can work its way into the axle assembly.
Synthetics (such as Amsoil) provide the long-lasting protection, fuel efficiency and dependability needed for top performance, even extreme-pressure conditions. Stays fluid in cold temperatures for easy cold-weather shifting.
AMSOIL gear oils are formulated with friction modifiers for limited slip differential applications. There is no need to add limited slip or additional additives.

Nope. Fortunatly for me, I don't. I generally let it sit overnight before filling it back up because I have the luxery to do so. Never had a leak, either.

Message: You should pull the cover, if for nothing else, to mop out the debris that you will find at the bottom.

you can take a lotion bottle that has the thing on top to squirt out the lotion. take that off and clean it and you can use that to get the oil out.
i took off the cover in mine and put a new gasket and silicone sealer on it filled it and drove right after and haven't had any problems.
