Message: I plan on taking my throttle body off to clean it. My question is do the bolts that hold it on have to be torqued to a specific spec, or can I just snug them down with a ratchet?

Message: Suppose to be 15-20 ft/lb, but I just tightened mine down with a ratchet. Personal preference. If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: According to the FSM, the throttle body mounting bolts get 100 in/lbs.
That's only 6.25 ft/lbs.

Message: I wasn't going by the FSM, I was going by the torque specs for grade 5 and 8 threaded fasteners. If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

Message: So baisiclly all I have to do is tighten them down with a quarter inch ratchet, and not go crazy on them.

Message: Yep, that's about it. You don't want to strip out the aluminum threads in the manifold. If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.
