Subject: HVAC lights burned out? Easy fix? IP: Logged
Message: Just got my Dakota back today from the dealer. Trying to get a oil pressure problem fixed (See oil pressure post) Anyway, they replaced the HVAC control head supposively also. I say that because, it seems from the outside the face of the gauges seems to have the same scuffs that the old one did. Now, only one bulb seems to work on the whole face. The MAX AC lower two on the left side seem to burn, otherwise nothing, the fan and temp knobs are black at night. I know they worked before I took it in, and now they don't. Anyone know how to change the bulbs? Are they built in to the curcuit? I'd love to change them myself and not have to go back to the awful dealer. I told them the air flow door wasn't moving. I'd turn the knob, the motor would move under the dash, but the airflow itself wouldn't change. They said it was the control head, even after I said it was "controlling" the motor fine. Guess what, the control head didn't fix it. Now they say the actuator door and motor aren't under the service contract, and want $500-600 to fix it, maybe more. All they did was burn out a few bulbs on the dash, and try to charge me hundreds of dollars. I'd just as soon fix it myself. Thanks for the help.

I'm not positive about the bulbs but take the conrol unit out and see what type they are and you may have to do a little soldering.. I cant help much because i dont know about new model stuff... but you'll get some help here

Message: Sorry, it's a 2001 Dakota. 60,000 miles, but got a 3mo/3000 mile service contract with it. They won't fix the air flow door or motor under the contract though.
Thanks,
Andy
