Message: Recently, I bought a Dodge Dakota Sport & took it to Wal-Mart to have the oil changed. Bought a lot of other stuff so didn't notice till I got home the extra entries on the bill. It said "oil leaks" and that a comp. head costing $6.95 had been installed. What is this (compression head???) & what is it for? Since it's been installed, the truck has been sending out a cloud of smoke when started which it didn't do before. I checked the oil when we bought it and after we'd driven it around for about a month or so (a week before I brought it in to Wal-Mart and the level was fine). Wal-Mart said it was a quart low when I brought it in. Anyway, I would appreciate any help/advice! Thanks!!!

Secondly (and this won't answer your question), DO NOT ever take your vehicles to Wal Mart for oil changes or anything else with the exception of maybe a battery (their exchange policy on those are good, even if the battery isn't top of the line).
Wal Mart has continuously proven they strip the oil plugs on vehicles, forget to put oil in the vehicle and sometimes don't even change the filter. I've known people who have had these things happen to them. Read two article in my area alone where Wal Mart didn't put oil in during the oil change and the engine blew up. Takes an act of God to try and get them to pay for a new one. I won't recommend anyplace since I don't know where u live, but please stay away from Wal Mart. Nothing but trouble.

Message: I won't even hazard a guess as to what "comp.head" means, but the $6.95 and the cloud of smoke sounds to me like they put some sort of stop-leak/seal-conditioner additive in the oil. If I were you I'd go somewhere else and get another oil change.

Message: One other thing Joy,
Take your receipt to the service manager at Wal Mart and ask him what that charge is. When he tells you, ask him why they didn't ask for your permission first. That is what they are supposed to do. If you went in for an oil change and they noticed you needed new tires, they can't just perform that service without your permission. Ride 'em tough and don't take no for an answer. Have them reimburse you for the oil change at the least, plus whatever that other charge was for.
To add to their bad service I forgot to add this.
I messed up one time about four years ago because I was in a hurry trying to catch a flight and took my wife's car to Wal Mart because I didn't have time to do it myself. They stripped the plug and I had to fight tooth and nail for them to pay for a replacement pan.
Go toe to toe with them on this.
