i am going to have a 12" sub behind the seat of my truck getting pushed by 500 watts rms and i was wondering should i have it ported or not ported i listen to alot of rap and rock sometimes country

The theory behind porting a box makes it louder. If this is what you want then you should. If you have a sealed box that has the correct amount of air space that the speaker requires, the speaker will hit harder than it will in a ported box. Porting a box just makes it sound louder, but not hit harder.

go with a sealed box that has the air space for the sub you are running. usually someone that builds custom boxes knows this kind of stuff. but that will sound way better than a ported box. ive heard both, and sealed is much better.
