 Subject: Rear bumper replacement

Well my G-Friend backed into my truck today and bent up the bumper. Thus now I have to replace it and am trying to find a good place to buy one. I'm not opting for a roll pan at this point for the very reason of what my g-friend did today. Anybody recommend a good place to get one? JC Whitney says they have one for $70 but they have no picture to show what it looks like.

You need an OEM style replacement bumper (OEM of aftermarket) if you want the truck to look right. JC witney might have bumpers that fir the truck, but does it look like your old bumper. I have seen OEM and aftermarket Dak bumpers on Ebay.
Is the bumper bent,,, or is the bumper's alignment off? If the bumper is not bent you should be able to loosen the bumper bolts and re-align it.

This is not related to your problem, but we are rebuilding a 2004 Dakota, and we have one with a painted rear bumper, and the guy give us a chrome front bumper!? Is this right or should we have matching front and rear? (chrome-chrome or painted-painted?)

the bumpers should match. i had my truck repaired at a body shop this january. i have an '00 QC Sport which came with body color bumpers & grill. well, when i went to pick it up they had installed a chrome grill. i made them change it, it just didn't look right.

I have an 04 Dakota, and my front grill is chrome and the rear is painted. I've noticed the same on other 04 Daks as well. It's just the way they come. I have no idea why. I've had mine since brand new too. So I know it wasn't damaged.
