 Subject: P0442 evap emissions code fixes!!!

Hey, I work for a dodge dealership, they will charge $75 for evap system SMOKE test... first though, check the gas cap, this is REALLY common probelm, SECOND< CHECK ALL THE HOSES!!! under the hood, on the drivers side, you should see a black set of hoses, with a green screw on cap on it... it is even marked as evap system. check all these hoses for cracks... MY 01 R/T had the three codes pop up randomly. replaced cap. no fix. checked hoses, one was split right at the evap system test port. the next place to investigate is under the battery tray, the duty purge solenoid... check all these connections too.

Might be good advice for anyone over 80,000 miles. For those with less, I hope you realize this should be covered by the Federal Emissions Warranty - inform your dealer you know about this, if they're too sleazy to inform you.
