 Subject: Another street race... Chevy Tahoe

Yesterday I was in Scottsdale with my friend. He's a BAD INFLUENCE ON ME according to my wife.
Anyway. Out running for parts (again) for his broken truck some kid is in some brand new looking Tahoe thing stopped at the light. Has some numbers on the fender, says 22 and something else. Figured it was some stupid sticker. but maybe it means something.
I know these things are probably a 5.3 or a 6.0 while I'm a small 4.7 4X4.
Anyway he's playing some rap crap really loud and staging at the light to change. I turned up some REAL music and staged it with him so there was no doubt.
The light changes and my tires spin but finally hook as I STILL pulled him off the get go. Once his Vortec got into their famous power band he started to match my acceleration but stayed one car length behind me.
Got to love the instant LOW end torque, ever from a SMALLER engine. :)
Anyway. Scottsdale is FAMOUS for photo radar. Had to chill after that stunt. But was still kind of cool, and my friend (known for year) always eggs me on.

Thats half the battle in a street race. Willingness to let it all hang out and possibiliy get caught doin it!!! Out here in my area of NY we have a large selection of wannabe supertuners you can squash on a regular basis. There are only a few who can keep up let alone beat me. Now if they put as much money into HIPO parts instead of their sound systems... LMFAO!

i notice alot of people put the rim size stickers on the fenders so everyone knows what size they are :rollseyes:
i should put "15" on my fenders so everyone knows

Too funny. Maybe that is what he meant.
He was playing RAP CRAP. So I turned up some hard sh*t. Got lots of bass, plus it can make your ears bleed!
So to answer ID4X4, real music would I guess just have to be MUSIC. Not copy and pasted crap (that my 10 yr old could do) and MTV + Marketing being the only thing making it popular.
I listen to anything from Progressive Rock (Yes, Pink FLoyd) to hard sh*t like Metallica, Shadows Fall), etc.
I don't care for Country one bit. But I give respect for anyone who can actually PLAY an instrument, etc.
I've seen some stuff like Snoop Dog at a concert (about as good of Rap as you can get) and it sounded like sh*t I couldn't even make out any words except for an occasional "biatch" or soemthing about smoking some cronic :p
Some people may not like hard rock like I do, but at least bands like Shadows Fall have serious skill and some of the KNOWLEDGE they have on guitar is every bit comparable to classical music. The sh*t is HARD to play!
Of course there isd also a hole bunch of recycled rock bands that are also made popular from MTV and marketing that gets on my nerves!
