Daddio. I HAVE all the Pink Floyd except for the final cut. Even the OLD stuff, pre meddle (one of my favorites is meddle). Pink Floyd has been my favorite band since 1973. When i was old enough to know what music was and my Dad got DSOTM when it came out in '73.
By the way, Alan Parsons and Pink Floyd did better engineering on that album way back then than many people can do today with computers and all. Pretty sad :p

Glad to see there are still other people who like "Music".

The ONLY show I watch on MTV is Headbangers Ball. And I always forget that it's on since I'd be busy at the time. So now I have it set to record on my Tivo.
But even on HB, they throw in the copy cat recycled sh*t in with the good sh*t. Oh well.

Even though I rarely pick up my guitar, I read my monthly guitar mags. Some of them guys really know their sh*t!

My latest mp3 playlist in my Dakota has Shadows Fall, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, Mudvayne, etc...

When the WIFE and kids are around. I have to option for something more "mellow" which also means more simple. Sometimes I bust out with the Floyd and similar on trips. But I have to find stuff they will listen to and not complain about. So then to avoid fighting over her wanting to listen to sh*t kicker or worse, I have to sometimes play linkin park, Korn, and Evanessance or whatever. :p

Ahh yes! Pink Floyd is great stuff!

Got another proponent for rock right here!

Rock is about the music, rap is about the image. Thats all there is to it.

Damn I am so surprised I have not been flamed even ONCE for the "rap crap" statement.

"Dream Theater" was too advanced for the simple minded to support it much :(

Pink Floyd isn't the fastest or as knowledgable with classical scales and the such. However they are probably the most inventful with their music and sound as well as there being a lot of precision and feel to the music at the same time.

The band "YES" is just pretty much one of those that blows you away in skill.

Saw them about 2 years ago with my dad and a friend. My friend (younger than me who didn't grow up with YES) is used to Zakk Wylde and similar, yet he was speechless after watching them guys play.

They really put it in perspective, how so many other people suck in compare!

Brad Paisley, I don't know what he even sounds like. But on one of my recent guitar mags they refered to him as "Van Halen on corn bread"!

LOL. You could look at it that way.

He can play pretty much any style, and do it amazingly well. I've seen him in concert three times in the last 18 months and have never been disappointed. He rocks!

When I saw him on 10/02, Richie Sambora jammed with him on his last encore song (Walk of Life - Dire Straits cover). Players like that don't play with just anybody.

Yeah. Last night at the Bowling alley (late night) they play music. Some good stuff, and some sh*t. Some really STUPID sampled up girly singing rap sh*t came on singing about her tootsie pop or soem sh*t. It's a shame how many "simple minds" actually like that sh*t!!!

The wife said it was popular and that OUR kids knew that stuff. AAARRRGHHH!!!

Anyway. Something really cool came on, like Dream Theater or seomthing.

I said to her, "That drummer just played more beats in 20 seconds (and complex) than was sampled and looped in that entire rap crap song!!!

Not too mention GOOD rock guitarists know as much about music, scales, modes, etc as someone playing classical, etc. Some of that stuff is so hard. I would never be able to play it. You need to practice EVERY DAY to get that good (Malmsteen, Van Halen, Shadows Fall, Metallica), etc.

With rap. They could sell an album with MY KIDS doing the talking (rap). All it takes it some one to program it, remix it, and someone to produce it so kids will buy it. THAT is sad!
