99 5.2 4x4 auto. cruise control light came on without me pushing any buttons and i don't know why. then i turned it off and tryed to use it and it didn't work.

Have you check the vacuum lines running to it? Also check the actuator for rust/debris/crap on it causing it to stick.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.
