Subject: Radio in my 2001 Dakota IP: Logged
Message: For the second time in 5 years, having to replace the radio, each time after service at the dealership. This time they say radio failure due to their cleaing the battery cables. They're willing to pay for the labor but say I have to pay for the radio. Never heard of having to replace a radio except to update or if stolen or damaged. Anyone else ever had this kind of problem? Thanks.

I'd recommend that you go with an aftermarket radio and let them install that.
Or, just install it yourself. I'd be worried that if you let them install the new radio, they could damage it and say it happened while they were putting air in the tires!!! lol

Message: The radio on my 01 went after I cleaned the dash. I bought the least expensive Sony I could find at Wal Mart. Cost 90 bux and 15 for the install kit and 5 for the wiring adapter.
I had to bypass the factory Infinity amp and it sounds 500 times better than the factory stereo. The Sony plays mp3 and cd/rw's and the face detaches.
