dude it was funny watching the neighbors come out but i hope that stuff has to burn through. my truck lost a lot off power and i want to know if that power will come back. will my engine never be the same?
is it normal to have a short term power lose when use Seafoam? :(

did you check to see what codes were there since you had a check engine light come on? i doubt the seafoam would cause a loss of power. i use it in all 3 of my vehicles, '00 QC dak, '00 Mazda protege' and my son's '93 saturn sl2 with great results.

run, no, drive to your nearest Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts and they can scan codes for you. then post back. yeah, i've read some people say the key trick works on '98 and some not. i know it works on my '00 and my bro-in-laws '02.

tried this stuff on my 93 with 145k miles. barely smoked at all little dissapointing considering all the talk about how they smoked out the neighborhood.

I believe that by using Mobil 1 or Amsoil truly sinthetics, good quality oil filters,(check Oil Filter Studies), 93 octanes gas from Mobil/Exon, Shell V power or similar, along with pontual mantenance like plugs, rotors, dist. caps etc, and specially driving efficiently, help to avoid that all together.
I never read any thing about seafoam any way.

ppuort it is an engine cleaner.
well power has returned and she purrs like a lion.
i do think that i have gain a slight bit more lower end and the top end feels the same. i do recommend this stuff because it does work. i think i will add it to the gas tank and to the motor oil.
when adding to the motor oil do i just leave in there for 3000miles?

i haven't used it in the oil yet on any of my vehicles. i would probably put it in and run around a little and change the oil the next day. maybe someone who has actually used it in the crankcase will chime in.

i've got 74k dirty miles so i figure it'll make lots of smoke.

ok, so i got the seafoam. and i used it.
not as much smoke as i hoped, but then again, less smoke means a cleaner engine to start with, right?

I just used seafoam on my son's 87 Dak w/ 188K miles on it. Poured it through carb, engine died immediately and made gurgling sounds. Waited 5 mins, took some time until it restarted and then, seeing the amount of smoke, I took off before neighbors start running out :-) . The smoke disappeared completely in about 7-8 mins. I got impression that engine runs much smoother now. Will do it on my truck as well.
95 3.9L 4WD V6, K&N, Gibson exh, JBA hdrs, JET stage II, MSD 6A, Rancho shocks and more..

did your son know that you were doing it to his truck? you have to pour really slow and when i did it my truck died twice.
and some mods to slow it down!

Toolfan, it's likely you fouled a plug when you did the Seafoam treatment. Probably was able to clear itself and now you're back to normal. I've had a couple run lousy for a short time after the treatment, but then they get the power back. I'm guessing if you have a really carboned up engine, it would be best to put in new plugs after the treatment.
