Message: Almost evey time I shift my mt into reverse it makes a grinding noise. I am at a complete stop with the clutch in all the way. Any idea what could be causing this, and how I can fix it?

Message: This isn't always practical, but turn the engine off, put it into reverse, and start it up.
I had to do this with my Jetta when the pedal didn't completely disengage the pressure plate. You may have a similar situation going on here.
For some reason the pressure plate isn't coming completely off the disk. And for that reason it is still spinning the transmission. Trying to connect (engage) spinning gears is never a good thing.

Message: Thanks for the info, I got the truck about 2 weeks ago, and it came with a 60 warrenty, gues it's going back to the dealer. Because I do not want to have to shut the engine off every time that I have to use reverse, how annoying is that!

Message: Try putting it into 1st gear first and then into reverse, see if that helps

Message: Or you could try double clutching it before putting it into reverse. Either way, all these ideas are just band-aids. Take it in for service to correct it under your warranty. That's why you have it...

Message: On my 4-cylinder Dodge Daytona, the owner's manual recognizes this condition and tells you to wait a few seconds after stopping, with the clutch in, to shift into reverse. This gives the input shaft time to spin to a stop. Or, as stated, put it in first before engaging reverse. But waiting a few seconds will prevent the noise. Chrysler considers this normal. Check your owner's manual to see if it mentions this.

Message: I don't have an owners manual for it, but all of these idead have worked 1st gear first double cluthching, and just waithing a few seconds. my friend with a dakota says that he has the exact same problem, so i am thinking that it is normal. But i will still have the dealer take a look at it just in case.
