Subject: Rattle when shifts into overdrive
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 97cc, V6, Auto, 90K. I am getting a rattling noise when my truck shifts from 3rd to overdrive, or overdrive to 3rd. It only does it after 15 minutes or so of driving. I hit the cat when cold, and didn't hear anything. And it sounds like it is coming from the engine bay, and not underneath the truck.
I noticed that every once in awhile, after driving about 30 minutes, and am driving very slow (about 10mph) through a parking lot or something, I will get a clunk when it shifts to the next gear. It could be unrelated.
I am getting very smooth shifts and haven't noticed any slipping. And I think the tranny fluid and filter was changed out around 60K. The fluid looks really and smells clean and isn't low. I also checked all of the heat shields and nothing was loose or close enough to rattle. Could it have something to do with the throttle body or the cables going to it? Any idea would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks OBIO3. I'll take a look at the mounts and u-joint tonight. The thing is it is only when it shifts in or out of overdrive that I am getting the noise, no matter what speed or rpm. I'm just hoping it isn't something in the tranny.
