all right guys and jeep owners i have a dakota my dad has a jeep 4.0 not HO.
the jeep is really fast to 60mph but doesnt pull had after that. are jeep has 3.92 gears so its probably just the gears and the great tq curve. the jeep is a s10 beater but not a v8 dakota beater. the jeep would only hang with me until 60mph and than the jeep would be left in the dust.
i like both and the jeep is a good unit but to say it is more reliable than a dakota is a tough call. and dakotas are not plentiful in are junkyards.

Who cares about horsepower in a jeep. If I had one, my mind would only work in ft/lbs. Anyone think that the Jeep truck that beat the Dakota might have been a J-10 or J-20 with some work done to the AMC 360 sitting pretty between the framerails?

I wonder what Billy Bob means when 9 sec in 1/4 for a 5000lb car ain't bad, I hope he doesn't mean his camaro is 5000lb. And he didn't say his jeep had any mods, so what is it that goes 9 sec in 1/4 mile? And why all the argument over which is better. Jeep + Dodge = Chrysler. You can take a gen2 dak drop in once bad 408 with about a 150hp spray and nothing is gonna hang with it, a lot cheaper than a jeep. Plus, the only jeeps around where I live are either wranglers lifted that would rather crawl over my car than race it or cherokees that shoot to 60 like a bandit. All I'm saying is that I'm 19 years old and I learned this a long time ago, no matter what car you drive, there will always be somebody whose is better and faster.

The only time I remember the Jeep ever having a V6 was when GM owned the divison. I think it was like a 2.8 or something like that.

yep the old CJ's had Buick 225 c.i. v6's my friend has one in his 66 cj-5. It's a 3.7-3.8 litre if i'm not mistaken.

Really, I guess you haven't heard one of the Jeeps has a 375 HP hemi in it. What is going to beat that? Not much.

I have both and can tell you my 87 Comanche 4.0L I6 with manual 5spd has more power and better economy than my brand new 05 3.7v6 with 4spd auto. And that is with a rated 40Hp and 190K mile advantage! And as of two days ago I can tell you the Jeep is better in snow. This new dodge (230 miles) scared the feces outa me on snow.
